RODNEY ATKINS TO PERFORM AT THE HENDERSON PAVILION

Country music star to kick off 2009 spring concert season

Country music star Rodney Atkins kicks off the 2009 spring concert season at the Henderson Pavilion, 200 South Green Valley Parkway, on Friday, April 3 at 8 p.m. Ticket prices start at $15. The show opener is twin sister act, Kate & Kacey Coppola, known for their fourth place finish on Country Music Television’s reality show, Can You Duet?

“We’re excited to have country star Rodney Atkins be the first to open the Henderson Pavilion concert season,” said Andrea Primo, Director of the Cultural Arts & Tourism Department. “His wholesome music and attitude is sure to put a smile on people’s faces.”

Atkins music can be heard on country radio stations across the U.S. country. His breakthrough into the business came when his catchy single, “If You’re Going Through Hell (Before The Devil Even Knows),” climbed all the way to number one on Billboard’s country chart. He later released another number one hit, “Watching You.” Both singles were certified gold and became the most-played songs of the year for 2006 and 2007. His album, If You’re Going Through Hell, proved to be one of the best-selling country albums in the nation. He is due to release his third CD, It's America, March 31. The title track and first single, "It's America" is currently playing across the airwaves and is a top 10 hit.

In addition to firing up the radio charts, Atkins earned the Academy of Country Music's Top New Male Vocalist award, plus five other ACM nominations and two Country Music Association nominations. He has also had the opportunity to amass some amazing memories-from public moments like performing for a half-million people at the National Memorial Day concert in Washington, D.C., to private ones like getting to thank hero Garth Brooks for his inspiration.

Atkins is also very involved in charity work. He is the national spokesperson for an organization close to his heart, the National Council for Adoption. Atkins was adopted as an infant from the Holston Children's Home in Greenville, Tennessee.
