Just minutes away from one of the world's most famous vacation spots, IRONMAN 70.3 Silverman features spectacular desert scenery in a venue filled with entertainment options.
IRONMAN 70.3 Silverman is held in Henderson, Nev., located just minutes away from the Las Vegas Strip. Formerly the IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship (from 2011 to 2013), the race combines the lure of one of the world's most popular vacation destinations with a challenging course that, for years, tested the world's best athletes.
On October 5, 2014, what has been labeled as one of the toughest courses, the grueling race begins with a 1.2-mile swim in Lake Mead National Recreation Area. Next athletes embark on a challenging 56-mile bike through Lake Mead National Recreation Area that includes both spectacular views along with some challenging terrain. Participants finish with a 13.1-mile run through Henderson’s scenic residential areas with views of the Las Vegas Strip.
Throughout the 2014 year, more than 60,000 athletes will participate in the Ironman 70.3 Series, which consists of nearly 50 events in locations such as Australia, Germany, South Africa and Switzerland, and now Henderson, NV, focused on qualifying for the IronMan World Championship 70.3.
Participants will range in age from 18 to 70-plus and will represent all 50 states and nearly 50 countries.
More than 2,500 volunteers from the local community will support the event. Please check back for more details as they become available.
